Don McKee Memorial Scholarship
AND THE WINNER IS: Mr. Ben Ross, (second from left) is the first recipient of the, “Don McKee Memorial Scholarship”. The presentation was done June 21 at the Wolfville Fire Department in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Ben resides in Gaspereau, a small rural community. Ben plans on attending the Springhill Campus of the NS Community College in September. Ben has served the last two years as a junior firefighter within the ranks of the Wolfville Fire Department under Fire Chief Todd Crowell (first left) who provided a letter of reference in Ben’s nomination. Chief Crowell said, “Ben is a hard-working individual who always finds time to volunteer in the community while still completing his academic studies along with working part time”. Doug Ross (right side) is the proud father of Ben and serves as a Captain in the Wolfville Fire Department and is a CVFSA member. Presenting the Scholarship was Paul Maynard, BSc. – NS Director to the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association.
