Since our inception a quarter-century ago, our association has been fueled by the passion and dedication of countless individuals who have selflessly dedicated their time, energy, and expertise to support all volunteer firefighters who serve their communities.
Through the years, we’ve faced challenges, celebrated triumphs, and most importantly, stood together as a resilient community, united by our shared mission to protect and serve. Our volunteers have been the backbone of safety and security, always ready to respond to emergencies with courage and compassion.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all the volunteers, past and present, who have lent their talents and commitment to the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association. Your sacrifices and tireless efforts have made an indelible impact on the safety and well-being of countless Canadians.

WHAT WE DO
- Representing the specific interest of volunteer firefighters in Canada, the CVFSA
- Holds a seat on the National Advisory Council to the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs
- Holds a seat on the Board of the Canadian Fallen Firefighter Foundation
- Presents annually the CVFSA Lifetime Achievement Award and scholarships
- Offers Municipal Long Service Medals to volunteer firefighter with 30 plus years of service
- Supports and promotes volunteer recruitment and retention across Canada
- Supports Health and Safety for volunteer fire departments
